The Music
  • Bob Dorr and the Blue Band

Bob Dorr & The Blue Band are celebrating their 35th anniversary. Beginning June 10, 1981, the band has averaged playing around 100 dates a year for its 30+ year existence, resulting in a multi generational, dedicated fan base, and making them one of Iowa's most revered, storied, and requested bands. Kansas City music writer Paul Taylor says "If you wanted to furnish your own nightclub, you would want The Blue Band. They are like one of those gleaming bright white appliances that you oohh and ahh over, and when you open the doors, all the best features you ever wanted come spilling out." Mississippi Valley Blues Society Director Karen McFarland says "...the best damn rockin’ soul dance band in the heartland. " Originally called "Bobby 's Blue Band " (an obvious tongue-in-cheek play on blues icon Bobby Blue Bland), The Blue Band is a 5-7 piece group whose sound can only be described as The blues/soul/rockabilly/reggae/creole/rhythm Band !

  • Travis Ried Band

Blues aficionado. That is how one could describe Travis Ried, who grew up in West Burlington, Iowa. Having discovered the Blues during his high school years, Ried has been playing, studying and breathing the Blues for 25 years. He has been influenced by musical legends, such as Magic Sam, Ronnie Earl, Allman Brothers, Albert Collins, Sean Costello, Robben Ford, Otis Rush, Little Milton, Son Seals and Luther Allison. Ried mostly has been influenced by his friend, the late Michael Burks. The two met in 1998 during the Mississippi Blues Fest in Davenport. Their friendship was immediate and Burks often asked Ried to sit in with him during many performances over the years. It was through this lasting connection that Ried learned how to perform.

  • Eric Pettit Lion

Eric Pettit Lion is an Americana band that has developed a mix of folk, blues, and country songs that dive headfirst into intense narratives. Their sound can be best compared to the artists they have opened for this year - William Elliot Whitmore, Ben Miller Band and Honey Honey. Like the gritty Mississippi River they reside by, Eric Pettit Lion continue the classic river metaphor by creating music that everyone can relate to. From a review in the magazine, Little Village - "It feels so good listening to this kind of music that you just can't stop doing it."

  • Whiskey Friends

A brand new band in southeast Iowa exploring all the talents and capabilities of its members with their backgrounds in heavy metal, rock, blues, and folk. At this point in time they could be described as a blues, rock, and folk band. Song writer sessions might include a nip of good Kentucky bourbon or Tennessee whiskey, hence the name Whiskey Friends and the band’s signature song.
